Umesh Tamhane, MD, is a board-certified cardiologist with additional board certifications in internal medicine, echocardiography, and geriatric medicine. With nearly 27 years of experience, Dr. Tamhane provides exceptional cardiovascular care to patients in Brandon, Sun City Center, Riverview, and Tampa, Florida at Bay Area Cardiology Associates PA.
Dr. Tamhane earned his medical degree at the Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College University of Bombay in Bombay, India, in 1995. In 2002, he relocated to Cleveland, Ohio, to complete his internal medicine residency at Case Western Reserve University. In 2006, Dr. Tamhane completed his geriatrics fellowship at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan.
Dr. Tamhane finished his cardiology fellowship at the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan, in 2013 and a clinical electrophysiology research fellowship at Aurora Sinai and St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 2015.
Today, Dr. Tamhane provides comprehensive care for cardiovascular diseases, such as structural heart disease, pulmonary hypertension, chest pain, and coronary artery disease, at Bay Associates. He uses the most advanced treatments to reduce symptoms and complications of heart disease.
From atrial fibrillation and sclerotherapy to carotid Doppler ultrasound and cardiac CT scans, Dr. Tamhane performs targeted diagnostic testing and offers effective treatments for all types of cardiovascular disease.
Outside of work, Dr. Tamhane belongs to a number of professional organizations, including the Heart Rhythm Society, the American College of Cardiology, the American Geriatrics Society, and the Internal Medicine Association.
